Oil Painting Classes with Paul Brown

Paul Brown loved art with his teacher Clarence Rice at Jackson High many years ago. He even minored in art at the University of Rio Grande. However, family life and his career with the Agricultural Research Center drew him away from art.

Now Paul is retired and hes pulled his paints out of the closet with some remarkable results. Hes exhibiting and selling his works all over southern Ohio.

Paul is eager to share his knowledge with others. He is about to launch Oil Painting Classes at the Markay.

Every Thursday night, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Markays Meeting Room, 271 East Main Steeet, Jackson, Paul will welcome students. There is a limit of 5 students so please be sure to call the Markay at 740-755-0209 to register. The first class will be held on August 7.

Paul has quite a supply list, which you will find below. He will supply paper towels, solvents, brush washers, and 11 x 14 canvas board supports. He suggests budding artists bring protective gear, such as smock or apron and nitrile or latex gloves.

The cost of each class session is $25 for non-Council members and $20 for Council members. IF you plan to take 8 or more classes, Paul is offering a per class price break of $20 for non-Council members and $15 for Council members. The catch is that you must pay for these 8 classes in advance. Paul thinks beginning painters can learn the basics in the first 8 classes.
